Jason Fontana

Jason is currently a junior at Florida International University seeking his Bachelor of Arts degree in History. His primary research interest is 19th century British Empire and its contact with the indigenous people of Australasia and the Polynesian Triangle.

He completed his Associates of Arts degree in History at Miami Dade College, graduating with honors and as the Social Sciences student of the year. While at Miami Dade College, Jason served as Editor-in-Chief for the award winning literary arts magazine Miambiance and as the captain for the regional champion Brain Bowl team. He also received recognition from the Student Government Association for his Excellence in Leadership. His passion for writing has led to multiple awards in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Jason moved to Miami as a cosmetology educator for the luxury haircare brand Paul Mitchell and has been a licensed hairdresser for ten years. Upon graduation, he plans to attain his PhD In History and advance to the professoriate where he can be an unbiased ally for the underrepresented students of his community, country, and world.
