Sherlynn Howard Hall

Sherlynn Howard Hall is Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Arkansas Baptist College (ABC) in Little Rock, Arkansas. Serving as the ABCs’ Chief Academic Officer, Hall is charged with the oversight of four degree-granting divisions, the Center of Teaching and E-Learning, the J.C Oliver Library, Student Support Services, Athletics, Academic Assessment and the Adult Education and Testing Center. 

Prior to joining ABC, Hall served as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities at Wiley College in Marshall, TX. She participated in the oversight of the four degree-granting divisions, and led a committee charged with the planning and implementation of the College’s Student Success Academy, a program to consolidate and optimize all campus student support functions. 

Hall’s book entitled, “Gender and Age Discrimination Among Women in the Broadcast News Industry” (Mellon Press, 2009) landed her on National Public Radio (89.3 KCUR-FM) with host Steve Kraske and guest Christine Craft.  Hall’s research also served as evidence for the 2010 age discrimination case of Mitzle vs Sunbeam, TV. Hall’s teaching areas include television news, television production and mass communications law.

Hall earned a B.A. in Broadcasting from Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA; an M.A. in Liberal Studies from Grambling State University, LA; an Ed.S.  in Educational Leadership from Northwestern State University, LA; and a Ph.D. in Mass Communications and Media Arts from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL.
